Pendahuluan

Manpower Planning (MPP) atau Perencanaan Tenaga Kerja merupakan proses identifikasi dan evaluasi dalam rangka memenuhi kebutuhan tenaga kerja yang akan mengisi jabatan dalam organisasi atau perusahaan. Dalam perjalanannya, Man power planning tidak dapat dipisahkan dari tujuan organisasi atau perusahaan dalam mewujudkan visi, misi dan tujuan yang telah dirumuskan. Pentingnya fungsi tersebut, maka Man Power Planning menjadi prioritas dalam setiap bagian dalam organisasi atau perusahaan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sumber daya manusia yang akan menjalankan fungsinya di dalam perusahaan. Adanya kaitan yang erat antara Man Power Planning dan rencana strategis perusahaan, maka kesalahan dalam perencanaan tenaga kerja akan berakibat pada business cycle organisasi atau perusahaan. Kesalahan dalam perencanaan tenaga kerja, penempatan sumber daya manusia yang tidak sesuai dengan fungsinya, atau kapasitas sumber daya manusia yang tidak sesuai dengan tujuan strategis perusahaan akan mengganggu produktivitas perusahaan.
